“The 40th Anniversary Commemoration of the "Taiwan Compatriots" and the Inauguration Ceremony of the 3rd Council of the Hong Kong Association for Promotion of Peaceful Reunification of China Limited” was held on 13rd November, 2018. Tung Chee-hwa, Vice Chairman of the National CPPCC and Mrs Carrie Lam, the Chief Executive of the Hong Kong made a speech. Wang Zhimin, director of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government and Huang Zhixian, president of the All-China Federation of Taiwan Compatriots attended the ceremony. Mrs. Kathy Lan, President of Golden Sun Film Group, was also fortunate to be present at the ceremony.

 

The Chief Executive, Mrs. Lam, said that the publication of the "Taiwan Compatriots" has been undergoing tremendous changes and achievements in the development of cross-strait relations for 40 years and the importance of Hong Kong in cross-strait political contacts. After the meeting, the Inaugural Ceremony of the 3rd Council was held. More than 700 representatives from Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macao and overseas guests attended the Commemorative Meeting.
